You, Me, Us

You, Me, Us

Advanced Photography students at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY worked together to produce artworks that revolve around themes of place, self, and collective identity. The group selected 13 concepts in the form of a word or phrase that were used as prompts. Each photographer used words such as abandoned and transformation to present their perspectives through the media of digital photography as they explored their local environment. The resulting images share commonalities as a collective yet each stands out individually in their unique treatment of a shared subject.

The printed images are sequentially grouped a categorized by each concept. The viewer is able to see them come together as a holistic mergence as well as autonomous works of art.

Some of the work from this project can be found at 114 Seneca Street in Geneva, NY along with the partner project We All Have Stories: Exploring Place, Self, and Collective Identity, located at 134 and 108 Castle Street.
